Step by Step by Tina Ashton
Hi Lavinians, we hope you enjoy joining us for another step-by-step tutorial by our Creative Contributor of the month Tina Ashton. Here we go! 🧚
Step 1.
Using a piece of Lavinia A6 size white multifarious card place on the Arch from the Sticker Stencil 5 set in the position shown.
Step 2.
With a Lavinia stencil brush number 7, brush on Elements Ink in Soft Cygnet all over the card as shown.
Step 3.
Stamp all over the inked background (with the arch sticker stencil still in place) using the Forbidden Secrets LAV878 and the Magic Dwells LAV1001 Stamps. I used the latter towards the bottom, but use them as you wish to cover the whole card. I used Versafine Clair Ink in Morning Mist, but I did use this in 2nd generation stamping so that it was more subtle.
Step 4.
Remove the arch shaped sticker stencil and now place the outer part of the arch shaped stencil over your arch. Use Elements Ink and Lavinia Stencil brushes and add the following colours for an interesting background of sky, Blue Lagoon, Mermaid and Lemon Drop.
Step 5.
Spray this background with a little water and then dab off with a kitchen towel.
Step 6.
Using Versafine Clair Ink in Sand Dune Stamp in the Hill House LAV908 Stamp to the bottom right corner of your arch as shown in photo. Then using a little torn paper brush on some more Sand Dune ink to ground your house stamp.
Step 7.
Using your choice of either Kuretake Brush Pens or Coloured Pencils, add colour to your Hill House stamp in shades of Blue, Beige and Brown. I used Coloured Pencils.
Step 8.
Add in some foliage around the right corner of your arch near the house using the following stamps, Flower Collection LAV764, Leaf Spray LAV741 and Orchard Grass LAV672. I used Versafine Clair inks in shades of Avocado, Oasis Verde and Rain Forest.
Step 9.
I used coloured pencils to add some depth to the top of my arch, and around the edges using shades of blue darker at the very top and blending lighter downwards. Ignore the bottom left corner of the arch as this will be covered.
Step 10.
Get your Forest Leaf LAV845 Stamp and stamp it in Nocturne, making sure you miss off the largest leaf on the bottom of the stamp as shown in my photo.
Step 11.
On a separate piece of white card, stamp out the Forest Leaf Stamp again and several flowers from the Moss Flowers LAV898 Stamp Set, again using Versafine Clair Nocturne.
Step 12.
Add colour to the Forest Leaf Stamp on this separate card, and the Moss Flowers using shades of green for the leaves, and lilacs, blues and purples for the flowers with your Zig Clean Colour Pens or Coloured Pencils.
Step 13.
Fussy cut out all the coloured leaves, I used 4 for the left side, and an additional small leaf to add in at the right (see on final photo), so 5 leaves in total. Also fussy cut out at least 4 of the coloured Moss Flowers.
Step 14.
Back to your main scene card with the arch, to add an aged look to the edges of your card brush on some darker brown ink, I used distress oxide ink in Vintage Photo.
Step 15.
Stick on your fussy cut leaves over the left corner of your arch, where you stamped your Forest Leaf stamp using some foam pads to give them height and add depth. Then add in your flowers, overlapping them again to add depth.
Step 16.
Add some black pen or pencil to the outline of your arch at the top particularly to give it extra depth. Then add in various dots around your leaves, flowers, swirls & Hill House scene using Posca Pens & Metallic Pens in Blue. Also add any white highlights to your flowers, leaves and windows of Hill House with white & yellow gel pens. Using your stickers from the Butterfly Stickers, stick on a little purple butterfly (or one of your choice) at the top left corner of your arch.
Step 17.
Finally, add in the sticker “Once upon a time….” From the Sentiment Stickers 6 Set (or a sentiment or sticker of your choice) on the top right of your arch. I then mounted my completed card onto a larger sheet of black card to give it a border/margin, and then lastly mounted that on to a buff coloured kraft card. It would look equally good on a white card I think.
