The Swirly Leaf Bouquet by Lainey Jones

Step by Step

1. Cut a piece of DL Multifarious card down to 18cm x 7cm. Now, using Versafine Clair Nocturne, stamp the Leaf Bouquet upside down, and stamp a snowflake from the Snowflake Set at the top, as shown here.

2. Using Van Gogh Watercolour Pencils softly colour in each petal of the Leaf Bouquet, trying not put two leaves of the same colour together.

3. Build up your colour until you are happy that the shade is bold enough.

4. Place the moon mask onto the card (optional) and start inking around this and the stamp at the top of the card with Versafine Clair Twilight ink.

5. Working on the top half of your card, build up your colour.

6. Add the wavy cut copier paper a little way up from the bottom of the card. (This will be a mask for your snow). Ink down to the wavy paper line.

7. Now you have the snow area.

8. Using a small Lavinia Stencil brush (series 3) and the torn paper, brush along small areas on the edge of the paper in random places to make snow tufts around the stamp.

9. Using a White Signo pen (or white posca pen) make small dots around the stamp to see where you want your swirl to be as I have done here. Add sparkles if required. Mine are added on the outside of the stamp.

10. Once you are happy with your swirl position, start adding the remaining dots and sparkles. Make different sized dots for a better effect.

11. Once your dots are dry, apply the Titanium White Pan Pastel with a cotton bud, over the dots around the stamp.

12. You can also use a soft pastel pencil to shade lightly over the dots or rub a cotton bud on a soft pastel chalk stick then apply over the dots.

13. This is how it will look.

14. Using a small Lavinia stencil brush (series 3) and Versafine Clair Twilight, gently shade the bottom of the stamp. I find Using the torn copier paper helpful for this as a guide. This is how it looks once grounded.

Using the white Signo/posca pen, add small highlights to the coloured areas.
This is optional of course but brings the stamp to life!
