Acorns in a Barrel – by Janet Blaauw

Step by Step by Janet Blaauw

Hi Lavinians 🧚‍♀️

Hope you enjoy today’s tutorial named “Acorns in a Barrel”.

Step 1.

Take some A5 multifarious card.

We are going to create a wooden barrel with a slightly curved stamp. I used the Hobbits Door Accessories Stamp LAV967 with Versafine Clair – Pinecone. Mask the barrel with masking paper or masking fluid.

Step 2.

Stamp the Acorns Stamp LAV983 with Versafine Clair – Acorn and mask them with paper or fluid. Stamp the acorns all the way into the barrel as well. Then stamp the Hazel Stamp LAV660 with Versafine Clair – Nocturne around the top of the barrel.

Make a green base with a stencil brush and the Elements Ink- Olive.

Step 3.

Stamp the LAV475 Foxglove with Versafine Shady Lane behind the barrel. Smoothly stencil brush a blue sky with Elements Ink – Della Blue, then blend a layer of Dark Denim Elements Ink into the top edge.

Step 4.

Now to put some adorable birds in the branches! Stamp with Versafine – Nocturne the Birds Stamp LAV965 and some Purple Cap Mushrooms LAV974.

Step 5.

Remove all masking tape or fluid and use coloured pencils to fill in the acorns with a reddish brown and the barrel in a darker brown. I have used the Koh-i-Noor Gioconda Soft Pastel pencils.

Stamp the round handle from the Hobbits Door Accessories Stamp in Versafine Clair – Nocturne.

Step 6.

Add lots of leaves around the base of the barrel with Oak Leaf Flourish LAV760, Oak Leaves Stamp LAV763 and Leaf Spray Stamp. Use secondary stamping to create fainter leaves in the background.

Step 7.

Darken the top edge with Elements – Dark Denim and add accents with Gelly Roll pens or Posca pens.

Step 8.

Mount the whole artwork onto white and black cardstock.
